The rain and cool temperatures didn't hamper festivities at the annual Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory Family Safety Day held September 8 in Warsaw Central Park.
The new junior firefighter challenge allowed children simulate the activities of a firefighter. Children had the opportunity to carry a hose, crawl through a tunnel, spray water at a target, and drag a manikin. In addition to the this challenge, some of the other events of the day included:
Gummy worm surgery by KCH
Bucket truck rides from REMC
Fire extinguisher simulation
Visits from Sparky the Fire Dog and Daren the Lion
Ronald McDonald mobile unit
Helicopters and many other emergency vehicles
Special thanks to all the participants that helped make 2018 Family Safety Day a success and to Lutheran Health Network, KCH, and Kosciusko REMC for their sponsorship.
Congratulations to the winners of the bicycles and child car-seats.
Family Safety Day is presented by the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory and sponsored by Kosciusko REMC and Lutheran Health Network KCH. Family Safety Day offers free activities devoted to health and safety with a variety of hands-on learning activities, presentations and games.
