1. How do I get an item included on a city agenda?

To get an item on a Common Council agenda or Board of Public Works & Safety agenda, contact the Mayor's Office (574) 372-9595. Agendas and packets for Council meetings (usually the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month) are prepared on the previous Friday. Agendas and packets for Board of Works meetings (usually the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month) are prepared on the previous Wednesday. For Redevelopment Commission, Plan Commission, and Board of Zoning Appeals, contact the Planning Department (574) 372-9550.

2. Can I use the Council Chambers for a meeting?

City board and commission meetings take first priority over use of the Council Chambers. However, there are some local not-for-profit groups that do meet in the Council Chambers on a regular basis. Contact the Mayor's Office to inquire about use of this room, (574) 372-9595.

3. When is the City's Trick-or-Treat Night?

The City's trick-or-treat is always held on Halloween night (October 31), unless it falls on a Sunday. Then it is takes place on the Saturday night prior. Hours are 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

4. How do I report a problem about a street light?

If you notice a street light that is broken or burned out, you can visit NIPSCO.com and submit a request to have it fixed. An interactive map identifies all of the street lights owned or maintained by NIPSCO. So if you don't have the exact pole number, you'll be able to search for the street light by address or location. (www.NIPSCO.com/StreetLightOut) The online tool also provides a status of the light, in case someone else has already reported the outage. For those customers who are unable to access the online tool, you can still call the 24-hour customer service center to report the street light at 1-800-464-7726. Having the pole number available aids in expediting the repair process. The pole number will be something like 108 \ 240.
