**Update 4/4/19** The closure is now extended from Tamarack Street to Scott Street. Thru traffic is prohibited in this area. Residents may access their homes, but if alley access is available, it is encouraged.
Construction on East Market Street is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 11. There will be three phases of closures during the course of the project.
Phase one, Hickory Street to Tamarack Street, will close from approximately March 11 through May 1. Phase two, Tamarack Street to Scott Street, will close from approximately May 2 through July 10. Phase three, Scott Street to Bronson Street, will close from approximately July 11 through October 1. These dates are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.
These areas will be closed to all thru traffic but will remain open to residents whose homes are located on those closed blocks. The only exception to access will be when resident driveways are being completed. Depending on the size and configuration of the driveway, residents may not have access to their driveway for a period of 48-72 hours. The contractor will work with residents as driveway work draws closer.
Residents should park in their driveways, alleys, or on an adjacent open street during the closure. If these parking options are not available, residents may call (574) 372-9550 to discuss other alternatives.
Trash service and recycling service will run on the normal dates with pick-up at the normal locations.
Emergency services will have access at all times.
A program for replacing trees along the entire span of East Market Street will be addressed for 2020. The late end to construction will not allow for healthy planting of trees this year.
