In a joint commitment with the Building Commissioner
, we review all commercial building plans during the permit process and conduct preliminary site assessments to ensure that fire safety standards are being met prior to construction. We further work with the general contractors during construction up until occupancy of the structure to ensure all life safety and fire safety codes are followed. This section also reviews permit applications for exhibitions, carnivals, and other similar types of public assemblies to insure fire safety and life safety.
The Fire Education section is responsible for developing and implementing programs that will increase the public’s awareness of fire safety.
The Fire Investigation section is responsible for determining the origin and cause of fires. The department is a member of the countywide investigation team known as Fire Investigation Team of Kosciusko County (Squad 70).
